New Script – ReviewMe offer notifier
Hello guys,
Not sure how many of view are members of ReviewMe but you will surely like my newest script.
The ReviewMe Notifier reads your ReviewMe new campaign feed and emails you if there are any new offers. This way you would never miss out an opportunity to make some extra cash for writing on your blog. (Icon from AfterGlow)
But wait … even if you aren’t a ReviewMe member you can still use the script for the RSS feeds you are subscribed to. You will get an email notification every time the RSS feed updates.
The script uses the lastRSS 0.9.1 RSS reader class from OsLab.
Here’s a small guide on how to install and make the script work
All you have to do is to open rss.php and enter your own RSS feed from ReviewMe.
To get the new campaign RSS feed URL you need to login to your account at ReviewMe, go to the bottom of the page where it says: Be the first to take up new campaign offers with the new campaign RSS feed. Click on that RSS feed icon, copy the URL and make sure you put the URL between the "" in the rss.php file. Make sure you also put in your primarily email address and make sure you check that email at least 2-3 times a day.
Upload everything to a folder on your website, and make sure to chmod cache.txt to 777.
Add check.php to a cron job. I set up mine to execute every hour.
To add a cron job you have to login to your cPanel account, go to cron jobs and add the php file to execute every hour (or how often you want). Here’s how I set up my cron job. – The script to execute: php /home/sava/public_html/script_folder/check.php
- I set it up to execute every hour by entering 0 at "Minute" and * at "Hour".
I will also post a visual tutorial on how to set up cron jobs correctly later today or tomorrow. There isn’t any demo for the script as I don’t want to flood my email account or get warnings from my hosts for sending out a bunch of emails. Please understand.
The script has been tested and works.
But if you encounter any troubles don’t hesitate to contact me.
Oh and you can download it from the Scripts page.
